Betty Mae Wall

Betty Watson Wall was called home on Thursday, July 27, 2023. There to meet her was her husband, William “Bill” Wall, her loving parents, and two siblings. She is survived by her three children, Bill Wall (Soraya) of Ball Ground, Georgia; Sherry Warner (Robert) of Kathleen, and Randy Wall (Tracy) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Lisa Keesey (Doug) of Ball Ground, Georgia, Lena Lyons (David) of Ball Ground, Georgia, Leia Fountain (Aaron) of Kathleen, Kate Evans (Bill) of Kathleen, and Erica Wall of Warner Robins; and five great-grandchildren.

Betty was born on January 30, 1932, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to the late Horatio and Amelia Sponard Watson. After marrying her husband in 1950, the Walls were stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska before moving to Warner Robins and building their dream home in 1966. Betty led an accomplished civilian career at Robins Air Force Base as an item manager for the F-15 program. During her career she was granted a flight on the F-15E Strike Eagle plane, an experience that she never forgot. Betty’s retirement years were spent traveling with Bill in their motorhome across the country, exploring all fifty states together, along with their Good Sam camping friends. She loved her second home in Florida and her Towerwood community. Towerwood offered her a place to continue her adventures with trips and most importantly a place where she made many genuine friendships. Her thumb was a brilliant green and she maintained a beautiful garden her entire life – growing tomatoes was her favorite.

Her many other talents included sewing, painting, and baking. Her tapioca pudding and loaves of homemade bread are legendary. She was proud of her roots and would often make homemade meals she learned while attending a Lithuanian Cooking School. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Her cards arrived promptly in the mail, ahead of schedule, decked out with stickers – she sent festive wishes even if from far away.

She will be missed for her determined, independent approach to life, her stories, and unwavering desire for adventure. We will also miss the bread. We are grateful she was a part of our lives and know her and Bill are on their next adventure together.

Visitation with Betty’s family will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Cleghorn officiating. Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest next to Bill in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
