Pete O’Neill, 70, entered into rest on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Pete was born on September 13, 1947 in Paterson, New Jersey to the late Peter O’Neill, Jr. and Peggy Schofield. With pride and honor, he served his country, for forty years, in the United States Air Force, having deployed to Vietnam, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. During his career, Pete attended the Air Force Institute of Technology, earning his Masters degree in Logistics, and he was a member of the Society of Logistics Engineers. He was the Logistics Commander at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, Deputy Director of Logistics Headquarters PACAF at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii and F15 SPO Program Director at Robins Air Force Base from 2004-2006. After retiring, he worked for Integraph and was the area representative for Rockwell Collins. Pete was involved in his community having served as a member of Robins Regional Military Affairs and the Aerospace Industry Committee for the Chamber of Commerce, member of the GA Invitational Golf Committee for the Museum of Aviation, the Carl Vinson Chapter of the Air Force Association, the Logistics Officers Association of Robins Air Force Base and the 21st Century Parternship. He was a former President of the Rotary Club of Warner Robins and President of the Board for Meals on Wheels. Pete was an avid golfer and a devoted family man. Southside Baptist Church was his church home.
His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Shirley Faye O’Neill; daughter, Kelly O’Neill of Miami, Florida; sisters, Peggy Tamberino of Nevada and Joann Drakeford of New Jersey; mother-in-law, Louise Lumpkin of Greenback Tennessee; sister-in-law, Janet Venable (Jeff), of Greenback, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Pete will be laid to rest in Cloyds Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greenback, Tennessee.
