Darla Stahl

January 7, 1948 — June 30, 2023

Darla McDonald Stahl, age 75, entered into rest on Friday, June 30, 2023. Darla was born on January 7, 1948, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to the late Harold and Bonnie Waugh McDonald. She was a long-time member of Perry Presbyterian Church, as well as a member of Houston Lake for over 40 years. Darla was in the financial business for over 50 years. She was well respected in the community and in her profession as a trusted advisor in her field of expertise. She lived by “Lead the servants personally and professionally”. Her true belief was “One has not lived until they have done a favor that can never be repaid”.

Darla had a love for animals like no other; she wanted to take in every stray she saw. She was also known by her fellow golfers as “The Queen of hitting in front of a birdie,” that tab ran high over the years. She enjoyed being in Houston County for many years and then moved to SSI to enjoy the beach life. Darla never met a stranger and was actively involved in any activity that was going on. She had many lifelong friends and had made many new ones. She danced right on up to her last night on earth. She had a love for music and got captured many times singing “Dancing Queen” by ABBA with her “sistas”. She was also known for her feisty personality and acquired the name “Lil General”. She was known by many as Dar-Dar, a name given to her by Ophelia. She loved to hit a slot machine every now and then; her favorite being the “Little Leprechaun” machine. She was known by many as “Little Leprechaun” herself.

In addition to her parents, Darla was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Stahl, Jr.; her siblings, Tamara McDonald Bishop, James McDonald, Michael McDonald, and her precious dog, CoCo.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her son, Brian S. Stahl; sister, Patricia Elmore (Billy), and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves behind her “bonus” children, Jeff and Dana Carpenter, and Cohen and Lexi Carpenter; “bonus” granddaughters, Ophelia Jane and Eleanor Claire Carpenter; her “sistas”, her LGA ladies, her lifelong friends, her large work family, her many clients, her gaming family, trivia family, line dancing family, shagging family, pickleball family, beach happy hour family, her neighbors, and her “sock monkey” family.

To know Dar-Dar was to love her! We will all miss her, but knowing she is at Peace being with her sweet Terry, her parents, and her siblings is a blessing.

Psalm 29:11 “The Lord gives strength to his people, and the Lord blesses his people with Peace.”

Per Darla’s wish (and those of you who knew her well), know you must grant her wishes; she didn’t want any type of memorial. There will be several celebrations of her life and I’m sure many laughs to be had.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in her memory to be made to Happy Hour HCAEC, Inc. at 202 North Davis Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31093 or The Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia at 4627 Highway 17, Brunswick, GA 31525 or Hope Mills Home at 5713 Newton Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348.

Rest in peace Dar-Dar, we all love you and will miss you!
