Harvey O’Neil Ware, 79, was called home on Friday, June 15, 2018.
On September 24, 1938, Harvey was born in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to the late James Russell and Ollie Ware. He grew up in Tuscumbia, Alabama and attended Deshler High School. Soon after leaving high school, Mr. Ware joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country retiring in 1976. He served in Vietnam, Japan, and multiple locations throughout Germany. Mr. Ware also retired in 1998 from the Army Air Force Exchange Service as the Robins Air Force Base Service Station Manager.
He had a deep love for children and their wellbeing and was a longtime active foster parent for Houston County. Mr. Ware fostered countless children throughout the years. He also enjoyed being a longstanding and dedicated member of the Warner Robins Lions Club where he served in multiple club officer positions including President for several years. Mr. Ware distinguishably served as the Lions Club District 8 Governor, as well.
In his free time, he enjoyed following the University of Alabama football, NASCAR and WWE. Collecting eagles, woodworking, making clocks, and fishing were also some of his favorite pastimes. In his retirement years, he and his wife, Lou loved traveling the country in his RV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Harvey O’Neil Ware, Jr.
Harvey’s memory will forever be treasured by his beloved and lifelong wife of 60 years, Lou Ware; son, Danny Ware (Elaine); daughter, Cheryl Morrison (Terry); foster daughter, Julie Raykovics; grandchildren, Elizabeth Miller (Jeff), Mary Ware (Jenni), Joshua (Lily) and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Ezra; sister, Sue Vinup (Terry); brother, Mark Ware (Ann); and dog, “Emmy.”
Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Lance Merritt officiating. A private graveside service for Harvey’s family will be held at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
