Rev. Aaron Hoskins, Sr. was born on June 12, 1940, in Scott, Mississippi. He was the fifth child born to James and Marie Vaughn. In addition to his parents, Aaron was preceded in death by his four siblings: James Jr., Corey, Barbara Wagner, and Annette Donald, his sons, Louis “Chuckie” and Rodney Dixon, and the love of his life, the late Geraldine Boston.
Aaron, known to many as “Rico,” was a very industrious person with many gifts and talents. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized again later in life under the pastorate of Rev. Junior Parker, Eternal Light MBC in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a licensed and ordained Minister of the Gospel.
Aaron was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools, graduating from O’Fallon Technical School. In 1960, he enlisted in the United States Navy, stationed at Lakehurst, New Jersey, in the Helicopter Utility Squadron. While serving in Augusta, Georgia, he married Miss Ruth McDaniels, and they had two children, Louis “Chuckie” and Cynthia Diana. In 1967, Aaron married Miss Mary Baker in St. Louis, Missouri, and two children were born to this union, Ericka Renee and Aaron Jr. “Taj”.
Aaron loved roller and ice skating and was referred to as a "master skilled skater" in the rink. His combat boots were transformed into skates using the most exclusive precision wheels. He worked part-time at Steinberg rink in St. Louis where he taught youth and adults to skate.
Aaron worked full-time for the City of St. Louis for 28 years. He served in Law Enforcement and as an Environmental Health inspector, retiring in 2002. As an entrepreneur, he renovated and flipped houses throughout North St. Louis. In 2005, he sold his properties to relocate and build a custom home in Augusta Georgia.
Due to Aaron’s illness, he was residing at Georgia War Veteran’s Home in Milledgeville, Georgia. Aaron departed this life on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his only living son, Aaron Jr. “Taj” of St. Louis, MO; his daughters, Ericka Renee of Byron, GA, Cynthia Hoskin-Fitts of Augusta, GA, Cheryle Robinson, Sharonda McKinney (Meeka), Tresse Brown, and Veronica of St. Louis, MO.; his grandsons, Rodney Dixon Jr., and Aaron III “AJ” of St. Louis, MO, TeyAndre of Bronx, NY, Mike Jackson Jr., and Malik Jackson of Byron GA, Terrance Fitts and Darian Fitts of Augusta, GA, Kenneth Robinson, and Tyeray McKinney of St. Louis, MO; his granddaughters, Rodneshia Dixon, Andrika Dixon, Delecia Wilkins, Kennisha Harris, Cailey Robinson, and Loretta McKinney of St. Louis, MO; his great-grandchildren, Demetrius Armstrong, Chloe Carr, Kenneth Robinson III, Khori Kai Harris, Harrison Harris, Jaxson Session, Charlie Session, Carter Harris, Ky’ge Robinson, Skye’ss Cosby, and Diontay McKinney of St. Louis, MO; his great-great grandchild, Demetrious Armstrong III of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Aaron “Rico” Hoskins will be laid to rest in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.
