Adnavene Austin

Adnavene “Susie” Austin, 96, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Adnavene Austin was born on December 26, 1926, in Oma, Mississippi. She was a faithful woman who, along with her late husband, were members of Central Baptist Church for 60 years. She had a servant’s heart for Christ and extended that love to her church family through her love of working in the nursery or wherever she was needed. She loved taking care of and spending time with her own family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She loved nature, especially flowers and birds. Due to her dark eyes, her husband Robert nicknamed her “Susie” because of the flower, brown-eyed susans. Her smile always lit up the room and will be dearly missed.

Her parents, J.C. and Minnie Beasley, along with her husband, Robert Austin, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Diane Orr (James), Robert Austin, Jr., Melba Smith, and Patricia Peck; grandchildren, Michael Kyle Orr (Sarah), Elisha Pirela (Mario), Mark Elder (Laura), MSgt Jonathan Elder (Lisa), Daniel Peck (Brooke), and April Austin (Corey); great-grandchildren, Lauren Orr, Colin Pirelo, Ariana Pirelo, Brayden Hopper, Amelia Austin, Hank Elder, Gatlin Elder, J.B. Peck, and Hudson Elder; and former son-in-law, Doug Peck (Tommie).

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Central Baptist Church. Afterward, Adnavene will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
