Alan Arthur Lischer, Jr., 70, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2011. Born on March 24, 1941, in Norfolk, Virginia, Alan was the son of Alan and Florence Lischer. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, graduated from Lindbergh High School, and earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Missouri School of Mines. While serving in the United States Army in Europe, he met his wife Kathryn Meyers. They were married in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 14, 1966 and enjoyed 44 years together. Over the years, Alan was involved with adult, youth, and children's ministries in the churches that he attended. He shared his love of the Lord with both the adults and the children that he taught.
Alan is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons and daughters-in-law, Alan III & Christy Lischer of Macon, GA and Chuck & Julie Lischer of Marietta, GA. He leaves behind four adored grandchildren: Nathan Lischer, Jacob Lischer, David Lischer and Meredith Lischer. He was a devoted and loving "grandpa." He is survived by his two sisters, Ellen DeRouse of Afton, MO and Alice Trampe of Collinsville, IL.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the Ingleside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 834 Wimbish Road in Macon on Saturday, August 20, 2011. A memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011.
