Retired SMSgt Alex M. Hendricks, USAF, 90, entered into rest on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Alex was born on April 22, 1932, in Crawfordville, Georgia. He retired honorably from The United States Air Force and the 202nd Georgia Air National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 172, for over 50 years. In his free time, Alex enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, repairing talking books for the blind, and telling stories of the olden days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley and Elsie Hendricks; his daughter, Wanda Hendricks; and siblings, Virginia Reese, Charles “Russell” Hendricks, and Johnny Hendricks.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Velma; nephews, Rusty Hendricks and Joe Hendricks; along with a host of other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Alex will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Alex Hendricks to The Wounded Warrior Project at 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
