Alice Elizabeth Kimbrough Lanier, 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Center in Augusta. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Mark Gentry will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lanier was born in Wellston, Georgia, which was later renamed Warner Robins. A WWII veteran, she served as a clerk typist in the 2138th Army Air Force Base Unit. She lived in Bibb and Houston Counties for many years before moving to Putnam County in 1987. She was retired after twenty years at Macon Coca Cola Co., having worked as a filling machine operator and inspector. Mrs. Lanier was a member of American Legion Post 172, American Legion Auxiliary Post 172, VFW Auxiliary Post 660, Women of the Moose, and AARP.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney C. Lanier; parents, George Whitfield and Mary Elizabeth Bell Kimbrough; and brother, George W. Kimbrough.
