Allen Tabor, 94, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015.
Born on August 18, 1920 in Banks County, Georgia Allen was the son of the late John and Melie Bell Tabor. A veteran of WWII, he fought with the 34th Infantry Division and participated in the invasion of North Africa and Italy as well as the liberation of Rome. He earned two Purple Hearts for combat injuries and was awarded the Bronze Star with combat "V" for meritorious service. After the war, Mr. Tabor became a world class cabinetmaker with a career spanning more than 60 years. Notable clients included President Dwight Eisenhower and the Saudi Royal Family. He was especially proud of his work restoring Georgia's historic plantations to their original glory.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Barbara Worsham (Bill), Sylvia Oglesby (Michael), Howell Tabor (June), Alvin Tabor (Denise) and Marty Tabor (Michele); sister, Florine Taylor, loving grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and friend of 55 years Mr. Frank Walters.
The family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Dr. Tommy Jordan will officiate. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank his dedicated caregiver Ms. Gaynell Hardwick and the entire staff of Gray Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care.
His was a life lived with honor, integrity and love for God, his country and his family.
