Alman Roosevelt Tew went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 2, 2014. He died at home in Centerville, GA surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Washington County, AL on August 15, 1928. He grew up in Mobile County and graduated from Wilmer High School. He served in the Air Force prior to taking a job as a civilian at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, AL. He transferred to Robins Air Force Base with his family in 1967 and made his home in Centerville, GA. He worked at Robins Air Force Base for over 40 years before retiring in 1989. He was also a Volunteer Fireman for the Centerville Fire Department for 23 years. Alman faithfully served his Lord at Green Acres Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA. He sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher/Director, a dedicated driver in the Bus Ministry, and led singing in Children's Church for many years. He never met a stranger and would freely give all he had to those in need. He loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to walk and play golf with his friends, but his greatest joy came from serving others.
Alman is survived by his four children, Sharon (Robert) Cohron of Bradenton, FL, Karen (Jared) Adams of LaGrange, GA, David (April) Tew of Perry, GA, and Toni (Evans) Ward of Macon, GA, his 6 grandchildren, Rachel (Sidney) Foster of LaGrange, GA and Kyle Adams of Acworth, GA, Ian and Ross Tew of Perry, GA, and Ivy and Will Ward of Macon, GA, his great grandchild Tatum Grace Foster of LaGrange, GA. Sisters Berniece McKay, Helen Tew, Lillian Dale Boykin, Annie Jane Collins, Linda Kennamer, and brothers Norman Tew and Bruce Tew. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years and best friend, Dorothy Tew, his parents, Theodore Roosevelt and Lillie Mae Tew and his brother Massey Tew of Mobile, AL.
The family's heartfelt thanks go to Alman's extraordinary caregivers at Heart of GA Hospice and special friends Patricia Canady, Bernice Turner, Mary Brown, Eliza Douglas, and to his closest friends Bobby and Patsy Coleman and Guerry Smith.
The visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at McCullough Funeral Home, 417 S. Houston Lake Rd, Warner Robins, GA, and the funeral will be held Saturday at 11:00with entombment following at Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
