She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Paralee Hughes Morrison, her father, James Lester Morrison, her sister, Wallacia Tamburo, her niece, Ann Garland Wilkenson, nephew, William Brooks Wilkenson Jr., and her dear friend of over 50 years, Jeaneane Moore.

Alta dedicated her life to education and community service. She served with distinction on the Huntsville City Schools board of education for two full terms, contributing to the betterment of the educational landscape in her community. A proud member of the Gamma Omicron chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Alta was committed to promoting excellence in education.

Her enduring legacy extends to her remarkable 57-year tenure on the North Alabama Educators Credit Union board. As a steadfast advocate for educators, she played a pivotal role in shaping the financial well-being of countless individuals within the education community.

Alta's profound influence on education was particularly evident during her extensive career as an educator, spanning over 40 years. Her commitment to fostering young minds was exemplified during her tenure as the principal of Stone Middle School.
