Amanda Carter Bentley, 71, entered into rest on Friday, August 3, 2018.
Amanda and her beloved husband, Neal moved to Decatur, Alabama from Georgia to be with their daughter, Lisa Herren (Clark) and granddaughter Callie Herren. They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Amanda was born in Byron, Georgia to the late Fred W. Carter and Alma Boutwell Carter. She is preceded in death, her son, Jay Carter Bentley; brothers, Warren Carter (Lois), Leroy Carter (Marylee), Charles Carter (Barbara) and sister Alma Carter Hollis, all from Warner Robins, GA.
Amanda graduated from Perry High School in 1965 and attended Woman’s College of GA in Milledgeville. Amanda retired from Wachovia Bank in Oglethorpe, Ga. Amanda was a beautiful, sweet, precious, true southern belle. More outstanding was her amazing strength and courage battling Rheumatoid Arthritis and living to the fullest. She took her inabilities and difficulties and turned them into pure grace. Her happiness and joy overcame her everyday challenges.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband of forty years, Neal Bentley; daughter, Lisa Herren (Clark); granddaughter, Callie Herren of Decatur, Alabama; sister in law Janice Jones (Gary) of Americus; nieces and nephews, Carol Willis (David), Freda Wallentine (Mark), Roy Carter (Karen) all of Centerville, Elaine Merrick (Keith) of Wilson, North Carolina, Chuck Carter (Gillian) of Warner Robins, Vicki Barnhill (Richard) of Albany, Jennifer Daniel and Benita Day, both of Warner Robins.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with graveside services following at Parkway Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Russell Gooden will officiate.
