Angela (Angie) Dismuke Ratliff

February 11, 1966 — May 13, 2003

First Sergeant Angela D. Ratliff passed away at Landstuhl ARMC on May 13, 2003. Services with Full Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Lanstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), CMR 402 BLDG 3759, 3C Hematology/Oncology, APO AE 09180, or to Landstuhl Fisher House, CMR 402 Box 669, APO AE 09180.

First Sergeant Ratliff was born February 11, 1966, in Orlando, Florida, but spent her childhood in Kathleen, Georgia. She entered the U.S. Army on January 7, 1986, as a 310th, Single Channel Radio Operator. Her assignments included the 124th Signal Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO (1986-1987); the 581st and 518th Signal Companies, 5th USAFAD, 5th Signal Command, Duenesen, Germany (1987-1992); C and Headquarters Companies, 501st Signal Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY (1992-1995); Phoenix Recruiting Company, Phoenix Recruiting Battalion, 6th Recruiting BDE, Peoria, AZ (1995-1998); 369th Signal Battalion, 15th Signal BDE, Fort Gordon, GA (1998-2000); and for 18 months she was assigned to Bravo Company, 121st Signal Battalion, Rudenhausen, Germany, as a Platoon Sergeant and then as Company First Sergeant.

First Sergeant Ratliff earned an Associates of Science Degree from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She was also a graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Air Assault School, Army Recruiting Course, and the Instructor Course. In addition, she was a member of the 1st Infantry Division Society and the 101st Airborne Division Association.

Her awards included the Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (4 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (6 Oak Leaf Clusters), Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Superior Unit Award, The National Defense Medal (2nd Award), Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 3), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Gold Recruiting Badge with 3 sapphires, the Recruiting Ring, Air Assault Wings and the German Schutzenschuar.

First Sergeant Ratliff was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mildred and Julian Fields; paternal grandmother, Tez Lawhun; uncle, Ron Fields; cousin, Emily Elliott; father-in-law, Ronnie Ratliff; and grandmother-in-law, Alma Cooper.

Survivors include her husband, Sergeant First Class Scott Ratliff, Rudenhausen, Germany; parents, Peggy and Kyle Dismuke; brother, Greg Dismuke; and nephew, Dalton Dismuke, all of Kathleen, Georgia; grandfather, Don Lawhun, Warner Robins; mother-in-law, Annette Ratliff, Warner Robins; and several aunts and uncles.
