Angie Wilder Cosey

1 Peter 5:10 says “after your season of suffering, God in all his grace will restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” Beautiful Angie Cosey shared this verse more than once and on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, her faith in this promise was rewarded. Angie was at home resting in her favorite room and surrounded by her beloved family when she eased from this life into the next to be with her Lord. She was 52.

The daughter of Joe and Jeanette Wilder, Angie was born in Macon but lived all her life in Reynolds, Georgia. She was a 1987 graduate of Taylor County High School where she was nominated to Homecoming Court all four years. During her Senior year, she was crowned Homecoming Queen and also voted Miss Taylor County High. It was also in 1987 that Angie met Jeff Cosey. They both knew a good thing when they found it, and less than two years later they were married. Jeff was the love of Angie’s life, and she was his. They had been married for 33 years. Angie worked in banking and was medically retired from Ameris Bank where she had been the Branch Manager in both Butler and Ellaville. She also loved flowers and enjoyed decorating for weddings with her dear friend, Jennifer; together they had a business called Flowers On The Side. She was a member of Reynolds First Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School, and was always involved with Vacation Bible School and any other activities that involved kids.

Known to her friends and family as “Sissy” and “Gigi”, Angie was adored by everyone. She was a precious soul who held fast to her beliefs, fiercely defended those she loved, and loved with her whole heart. Her family was her world, and she lived in a way that made certain they knew it. She was born to be a wife and mom, and excelled at both. Her boys and grandboys made her proud and brought her joy. Without a doubt, time with her family was the thing Angie cherished most.

Additionally, Angie was a country girl, and she loved living on her farm. The front porch was her happy place, and she loved being outdoors and working in her yard. She also loved going to the mountains or to the beach. When describing Angie, people use words such as genuine, precious, gracious, courageous, generous, funny, loving, and loyal. All true, but there aren’t enough words to fully capture the sweet spirit that was so obvious when you were around her. She had a way of making you feel like you were the most important person in the room, and time spent with Angie simply made people feel better. Simply put, the legacy Angie leaves is a beautiful one, because of the beautiful life she lived.

Angie was preceded in death by her grandparents, her brother, Kevin Wilder, and her favorite father-in-law, Larry “Papa” Cosey.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff, and children, Joshua (Tina), Kyle, and Ethan; her grandboys, Jackson and Jenson; parents, Joe and Jeanette Wilder; mother-in-law, Camille Cosey; brother, Kenny; nephew, Zack and niece, Lindsay (Luke, Liam); and her chosen sisters, Beth, Amy, Christy, Amy G., and Jennifer W, as well as numerous other extended family and an army of beloved friends.

A funeral service and celebration of Angie’s life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Reynolds First Baptist Church with Rev. Fitz Brown, Rev. Jeff Cummings, and Bruce Goddard officiating. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service during a visiting hour from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Following the service, Angie will be laid to rest privately on the farm at the New Prospect Church Cemetery.
