Anita Orlet Elkins McDonald, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
Mrs. McDonald was born on February 17, 1936 in Neckarsulm, Germany to the late Julius and Anna Weiland Orlet. She proudly served her country in the United States Army. Subsequent to her military service, she worked until retirement in civil service at NAS Whiting Field. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Pine Oaks Golf Group and Waterford Golf Group. She was also a member of the Myrtle Beach National Ladies Golf Group where she had served as president as well as tournament chairperson. When she was not on the golf course, she spent her spare time playing poker, Phase 10, and pinochle. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John William Elkins and her son, John William Elkins, Jr.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring husband of 24 years, Joel “Mac” McDonald; her daughter, Angela “Missy” Migues (James); her stepsons, Jay McDonald and Scott McDonald; her grandchildren, Ashley Hartman, Stephen Migues, Aiden McDonald, and Delaney McDonald; and great grandson, Nixon Taylor.
Visitation with Mrs. McDonald’s family will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with D.C.O. Jerry Bisping officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. McDonald’s memory to Kindred Hospice, 319 Margie Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
