Annie English, 98, entered into rest Saturday, November 15, 2008.
Mrs. English was born on November 17, 1909, in Milledgeville, Georgia. She attended the Peabody School and went on to later graduate form Georgia State College for Women. After graduation she became a school teacher for Wilkinson and Bleckley counties. After meeting her husband, I.C. English, they went into the restaurant business in Cochran. Through their travels, they spent time on Jekyll Island where she was the assistant manager of the Crane House, Jekyll Island Club and Sans Souci. After the passing of Mr. English, Mrs. English became a homemaker and spent the last fifty years with her son, Dr. Inman "Buddy" English. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cochran and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her parents, Jim and Anna Smith; and son James English, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving son, Inman, "Buddy" English, M.D., Warner Robins; two grand daughters, Adele Prillo and Donna Stegall, Melbourne, Florida; three great grandsons and niece, Patricia Blackmon, Smyrna, Georgia.
A Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
