Annie Laurie Edwards Cosby, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Houston County Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend James McCullough officiating. Interment will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088.
Mrs. Crosby was born on July 21, 1925 in Crawfordville, Taliaferro County, Georgia. She was the second child of the late Lenys Boyd and Minnie O'Dessa Edwards and a descendant of Etheldred and Julia Ogletree Edwards. In 1942, she graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute of Crawfordville. On December 1945, she married Jesse Morgan Cosby. She was a devoted and loving family woman who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and clipping coupons. She retired after thirty years of service from the Accounting and Finance office (payroll) at Robins Air Force Base as a lead payroll clerk. Annie was a member of the First Baptist church of Warner Robins since 1958. She will be remembered for her laughter, kindness and generosity. She was such a sweet, gentle presence to her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy C. and Jimmy Rogers, Byron, Joyce C. and Art Colvin, and Charles R. Cosby, all of Warner Robins; two sisters, Lena Callaway, Eatonton, and Faye Callaway, Washington; one brother, Wilbur (Sara) Edwards, Tignall; three sisters-in-law, Mary Frances Hankins, Ruby Wilson an d Gladys Blackburn; twelve grandchildren, Angela, Jina, Virgil, Mark, Brian, Allen, Justin, Jennifer, Laurie, Chad, Ryan and Travis; seventeen great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Morgan, Mackenzie, Alex, Brandi, Jacob, Brandon, Patricia, Jessica, Adam, Taylor, Trenton, Summer, Parker, Cash, Whitney and Collin; and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Jesse M. Cosby; son, Jess M. Cosby; grandson, Marvin Pollard; and sisters, Margaret Johnson and Margie McNair.
