Archie Ray Teston

May 20, 1956 — January 20, 2025

Swainsboro

Archie Ray Teston, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Pine Pointe Hospice with his wife, Sandra by his side.

Ray was born in Nicholls, Georgia, the oldest child of Archie and Mary Ernestine Moore Teston, who both predeceased him. He was also predeceased by first wife, Sally Fote Teston, and second wife, Julia Leggett Moon Teston.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Graham Athon-Teston; and by his son, Carl Teston of Brunswick; stepson, Allen Bradley Athon (April); granddaughter, Brayleigh Athon; as well as Ray’s siblings, Glynn Teston of Brunswick, Walter “Tony” Teston (Judi) of Murphy, North Carolina and sister, Donna of Brunswick.

Ray was an electrician by trade and served in a union that sent him across the country to use his skills. Although, he was a South Georgia guy at heart, and his truest gift was in the field of music. Ray built and refurbished dozens of beautiful violins, played the fiddle and other instruments, and jammed in numerous bluegrass bands across several decades. Ray loved to hunt and had a special place in his heart for dogs -- in spite of the curmudgeonly character he liked to play. Another talent was gardening, and vegetables flourished at his bidding. His dream in retirement was to small-scale farm in Southeast Georgia, and while he was not entirely granted that wish, he surely jams and harvests today in the great beyond.

At the family’s request, all services held will be private.
