Audrey C. Lewis, 89, entered into rest on Sunday, December 5, 2010.
Mrs. Lewis was born on November 1, 1921 in Hartwell, Georgia. She was a member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church and the Forever Young Sunday school class. Audrey was raised in Anderson, South Carolina. A homemaker, she truly enjoyed time spent with her beloved family. An accomplished poet and writer, she wrote and published three books of poetry which are included in the Smithsonian folk art collection. Proudly recognized by Poets of America, Audrey received a certificate for best poem "The Agony of The Cross". Her husband of fifty six years, Walter Jenkins Lewis, her parents, James Lindsey Cordell and Mary Lou Slater Cordell, all preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Gary Walter Lewis (Faye), Byron; Rodney Earl Lewis, Maryville, Tennessee; granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Lewis, Kathleen; grandson, Mark Kenneth Lewis (Cheryl), Perry; and one sister, Bertie Jaynes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 8, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
