Audrey Henry Cook, 90, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
Audrey was born on February 9, 1923 in Soperton, Georgia to the late James Henry and Mattie Claxton Henry and was of the Baptist faith. For the past twelve years, she lived in the Oaks at Peake in Macon and prior to that she lived in Albany for many years. Audrey retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base after a long civil service career. She gave generously of her time and talents to those in need and was an active volunteer at local schools and at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany. In her spare time, she loved to sew and read, and was an avid writer, especially of poetry, often writing special birthday poems for friends. Audrey loved to laugh and tell funny stories and her laughter will be missed by all her family and friends. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, teaching them and making them feel special in many ways. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; parents; brothers, James and Howard; and sister, Beulah.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Kathryn Barber (Steven) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Claudia Campbell of Atlanta, Georgia and John Cook of Bonaire, Georgia; sister, Jacqueline Bennett (Ben) of Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Jacob Barber of Boston, Massachusetts, Rebekah Blesing of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Ryan Roberts (Emmy) of Byron, Georgia, Sean Cook of San Francisco, California, Carolyn Triezenberg of Holland, Michigan, Lindsey Leitch (Kirk) of Atlanta, Georgia, Megan Fenton (Kyle) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brett Campbell of Albany, Georgia, and Justin Cook of Bonaire, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Rowen Blesing, Colton Roberts, Zoe Roberts, Donovan Roberts, Devon Campbell, and Harper Leitch; and many adoring nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Andersonville National Cemetery with interment immediately following. The family will accept flowers, or donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
