Hawkinsville resident Aurelia “Renee” Hering passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 after a brief illness. She was 88 years old.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she was born on November 21, 1932, the daughter of the late John J. and Helen Stem Weiss. She worked as a butcher and sausage maker in the family business and was formerly a police officer. An accomplished singer and piano player, Renee spent some time as a church music director in her earlier days.
There was never a dull moment with Renee. She loved to have a good time, especially at her favorite hangout Kelley’s Irish Pub in Vero Beach, Florida. Never one to lose an argument, she was notorious for telling people, “I’m not arguing, I’m just explaining why I’m right.” Renee could shoot a mean game of pool and was a genius at remembering every detail of every event that ever happened. Her mind was like a steel trap and she knew all the teams and players from all of her favorite sports teams.
Left to cherish the memory of their mother and grandmother are her daughters, Valaina Angley (Mike), Lynda Barrett, Karen West, and Phyllis Vaughn; sons, Thomas Patrick, Kyle Hering, and Paul Hering; grandchildren, Dominic Patrick, Christian Patrick, Isabella Patrick, Mac Angley, and Rob Angley as well as over 30 great grandchildren.
