Barbara Ann Manders

Barbara Ann Manders, 64, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2006 in her home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society 804 Cherry Street Macon, GA 31201 or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association 810 7th AVE New York, New York 10019.

Mrs. Manders was born in Duplin County, North Carolina on November 24, 1941. She was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Barbara was retired from the Houston County Board of Education where she was employed as a school bus driver. An avid golfer, she was the ladies golf champion at Pine Oaks Golf Club where she held many titles. She was a dedicated runner and was proud to be a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her husband, SMsgt. Billy P. Manders, USAF (Ret) and two brothers, Henry Walker and Robert Walker, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Kim Sanders, Macon; Gregory Manders, Lizella; grandchildren, Matthew, Madison and Brandon, sisters, Georgia Bell Lambert, Jacksonville, FL; Belva Swinson, Wilmington, NC; and brothers, Derl Walker, Mt. Olive, NC; Mack Walker, Wilmington, NC; and Charles Walker, Columbia, SC.
