Barbara Meeks Pike Bass, 68, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2008. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Robert "Bob" Pike born in Montezuma, son Gerald Vance Pike, who died at age 41, sister, Mildred Meeks Wommack Breazeale.
She was the daughter of Willie Robert "Algie" Meeks (1887 – 1965) and Grace Hartley Meeks (1899-1983). Her grandparents were John Oliver and Louisianna Brown Meeks and Jasper Green and Maggie Elizabeth Parker Hartley.
Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Tenille High School, Tenille, Georgia and attended Georgia Alabama Business School, Macon, Georgia. She was employed several places before retiring from Robins Federal Credit Union after 21 years. She then spent most of her time helping the elderly. She loved to read in her spare time and work on genealogy. She attended Andrew United Methodist Church, Bonaire, and on Sunday mornings you could find her making coffee for the early service and later singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Don J. Bass, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Gregory Pike (Susan), North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Julie Pike; She was a loving grandmother of 5 grandchildren, Ashley Michelle Pike, Gregory Justin Pike, James Robert Pike, Keely grace Pike, Coleen Caroline "Cece" Pike. She is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Wofford and Nellie Wommack and two brothers, Willie Robert Meeks (Lynette) and Grayson Randall Meeks (Diane). Her family was very important in her life and she always made time to help out when needed. She will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
