Barbara "Bobbie" Love Askew Grier

Bobbie Grier, 102, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at the home of her grandson, Micheal Grier in Perry, Georgia.

Bobbie was born in Jackson, Tennessee on August 27, 1913. She married Lloyd Grier in 1932 where they resided in Birmingham, Alabama. Bobbie lived independently for 100 years and lived in the same house on 41st Avenue in Tarrant for over 70 years. She was an original member of Inglenook Methodist Church which merged with Faith United Methodist Church. Bobbie was involved for over 60 years in the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the Daughters of the Nile. She loved to travel and worked for many years at the former Blach's Department Store.

Her husband, Lloyd Grier; children, Berry Grier (Ann) and Barbara Day; grandchildren, Helen Massey and Donald Thorton; parents, four sisters, and three brothers, preceded her in death.

Left to cherish the memories of Bobby are her son-in-law, Ron Day of Memphis, Tennessee; her grandchildren David Thorton, Memphis, Tennessee; Michael Grier (Kay) of Perry; Carolyn Grier Reid (Jeff) of Warner Robins; as well as numerous close friends.

A Visitation with Bobbie's family will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April, 11, 2016 at Johns-Rideout's Mortuary- Elmwood Chapel. Funeral services will immediately be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Following the service, Mrs. Grier will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Faith United Methodist Church, 7315 Old Springville Rd, Pinson, Alabama 35126 or Homestead Hospice, 500 Osigian Boulevard, Warner Robins, Ga 31088.
