Barbara Jane Smith

Barbara Jane Smith passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior on the evening of Monday, August 2, 2021, at the age of 65. She was born in Gate City, VA, on July 31, 1956, the daughter of the late William and Barbara Arnold Ison, and was of the Baptist faith.

A retired teacher for the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency, Barbara enjoyed teaching and mentoring young children for many years. In her free time, she loved crafting and sewing, cooking and baking for her family, flower and vegetable gardening, and anything to do with being outdoors and in the sun. Most of all, Barbara loved spending time with her husband, Eddie, her children, each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her precious poodle, Little Bit, all of who she loved to dote on.

Those left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her loving husband, Eddie Allen Smith of Lizella; children, Jenine Smith (Harold) of Perry, Lynn Murray of Warner Robins, Melissa Murray of Macon, Christy McCready of Bristol, VA and Shanna Chap (Sophydang) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Junior Smith (Jennifer), Taylor Smith, Joshua Smith, Jordan Layfield (Hyewon), Danielle Tennyson (Zach), Trevor Whittaker, Brandon Whittaker, Michelle McCready, Mason Coulter, Connor Coulter and Liam Murray; great-grandchildren, Oaklyn Smith, Brianna Layfield and Greyson Tennyson; adopted grandson, Tyler Pearce; siblings, Jean Sampson and David Mitchell; nephews and niece, Jimmy Tiller, Amber Mitchell (Derek) and Michael Sampson (Michele); and several great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be privately laid to rest in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
