Barbara Jean Battles Herring

Barbara Herring passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017, surrounded by her loving husband of 52 years, Frank Herring; son, Craig Franklin Herring of Warner Robins, Georgia; daughters, Karen Renee Herring Yeager (Keith) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Lisa Herring Butterfield (Jason) of League City, Texas.

Barbara was a loving and devoted homemaker whose family was always her highest priority. She enjoyed a life of service to others by cooking and sharing her famous sweet rolls, peach jam, and fried chicken. On Sunday mornings, she could be found watching televised sermons from Central Baptist Church. She was also known to dote over her beloved grandchildren, Brian and Mark Yeager and Libby, Emma, and Andee Butterfield.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Ewing Walker Battles Jr., mother, Versie Battles, brothers, George and Buddy Battles, and sister, Janie Battles Padgett.

Also left to treasure her memory are her brother, Allen Battles (Sally); sisters, Linda Battles Harbin and Jo Ann Battles Walker (Michael), all of Attalla, Alabama; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 29, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Attalla, Alabama, with graveside service following at 1:00 p.m. in Red Hill Cemetery where Mrs. Herring will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Barbara Jean Battles Herring to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Suite A, Macon, Georgia 31201.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory and Morgan Funeral Chapel have the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Herring's arrangements.
