Barbara T. Cretors

September 20, 1945 — December 22, 2020

Barbara Terry Cretors died Dec 22 at Emory Hospital, the same hospital where she was born 75 years ago. For the past 3 years she struggled with cancer and the ongoing treatments to keep it in remission.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

As a 15-year-old, she moved with her family from California to Georgia when her father transferred with SAC to Robins Air Force Base. She attended Warner Robins High School, where she met her future husband. She never lived anywhere else, except as a student at Middle Georgia Junior College.

Barbara is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, James “Jimmy”; their children, Kimberly Cretors Clifford of Atlanta and John Cretors (Kelley) of Haynesville; and grandchildren Austin and Jac who called her “My Bobbi.”

She was known as “Babs” to the younger siblings who survive her: James Hill Terry (Rebecca), Johns Creek; William Scott Terry, Sandy Springs; and Wanda Simasko (Steve), Pullman, WA. Babs is also survived by her nieces and nephews, who received many cards and treats through the years from their dear Aunt Babs: Sarabeth Dean (Dexter), Silver Spring, MD; Meg Terry, Nashville, TN; Max Terry (Lauryn), Canton; Matt Simasko, Lewiston, ID; and great-nephews, Griffin Collier Dean and Jordan Terry.

Barbara’s greatest strength was care giving - from newborns to elderly. She was selfless, always willing to do what others needed her to do. For more than 38 years she provided care for her bedridden mother and wanted everyone to know she couldn’t have done it without the support of Jimmy, Kim, and John. She was a kindergarten teacher and later worked as a sales rep for Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics at the Robins Base Exchange.

Babs was always busy in the kitchen and loved to mix up a batch of brownies for any occasion. She loved the annual Collier family reunions when she and cousin Patsy Swearingen looked at old photos and reminisced. Barbara was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she helped with the annual pumpkin patch and other events until her cancer diagnosis limited participation.

Everybody loved her. She will be greatly missed for her sweet spirit and kind soul. Our hearts are aching but are comforted that she found strength in her everlasting faith and the promise of meeting all her loved ones again in heaven.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James Hill and Jeanette Collier Terry, her niece, Corinne Simasko and son-in-law, Carl Clifford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 511 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088 or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851, or remember Barbara/Babs/Bobbi when you see a white squirrel, pick a camellia blossom, or smell the gardenias in bloom.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
