Barbara Phillips peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Hazel Colson Hospice House with her loved ones by her side. She was 86 years old.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Richard and Maggie Lou Linville and grew up in Cynthiana, Kentucky, where she graduated from Cynthiana High School in 1951. In 1952 Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Frazier, just one month before he went into the service. Following her husband’s time in the military, they moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where Barbara worked in a bakery supporting Frazier while he attended the University of Kentucky. Later they relocated to Titusville, Florida, when Frazier accepted a position with McDonald Douglas and Kennedy Space Center where he worked for 21 years. Over the years, Barbara enjoyed teaching Sunday school in the various churches they attended and she also enjoyed singing in the choir. In 1980, Barbara and Frazier made Warner Robins their permanent home when Frazier shifted careers and worked in civil service on Robins Air Force Base. At this time, Barbara took a position as a security guard with Guardsmark, working at the Macon Airport and at Brown and Williamson Tobacco. In her spare time, Barbara loved to go to the beach and play bridge. She especially enjoyed being in the pool and was known to start swimming as early as March of each year. She was a fan of Tiger Woods and Tom Brady. What she enjoyed most during her life, however, were her years spent as a homemaker caring for the family she loved. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was loved and will be remembered by many.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Katie Dailey.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 68 years, Frazier Joseph Phillips; children, Jody LuWare Phillips and Michael Phillips (Renota), all of Warner Robins and Peggy Joy Schall (Ken) of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Kevin Phillips (Tara), Katie Whewell (Jacob), Emily Rose Schall; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Rose Phillips, Maci Phillips, Lorelai Phillips, Oliver Whewell, Salem Whewell; and brother-in-law, Donnie Dailey.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Phillips will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Centerville United Methodist Church in Warner Robins.
