In the early morning hours of Monday, February 8, 2016, Barry Bilbro was summoned by God to his heavenly home. He was 68.
Barry was born in Atlanta, Georgia, one of two sons to the late Gerald Lee Bilbro, Sr. and Ruth Mitchell Bilbro. He grew up in Griffin, Georgia graduating with the Griffin High School Class of 1966 and from the University of Georgia with a BS in Pharmacy in 1972.
On August 22, 1970, Barry married the love of his life, Miss Grace Fitzgerald. They moved to Warner Robins in 1975 where he worked with various pharmacies before opening the well-respected Medicine Shoppe in 1984. Barry's generosity and tireless efforts significantly impacted the community as he was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and served on the boards of Heart of Georgia Hospice, Salvation Army, and the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Barry enjoyed playing guitar and was an active member of the praise band. He was the proud owner of an MG and had a deep love for vintage cars, vintage car racing, and was a member of the local MG Club. Barry dedicated his life to serving God, being his wife's "perfect gentleman," and being a wonderful father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. His selfless and merciful soul and infinite compassion for others will be always be remembered by all who knew him.
His memory will be treasured by his loving wife of 45 years, Grace Fitzgerald Bilbro of Warner Robins; daughter, Betsy Bilbro Huey (Brian) of Decatur; son, Barry Mitchell Bilbro, Jr. (Susie) of Nashville; grandchildren, James Mitchell Huey, John Harris Huey, Katherine Fitzgerald Huey, and Sarah Jane Callaway Bilbro; and brother, Gerald Lee Bilbro, Jr. of Highlands, North Carolina.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Lyons officiating. Mr. Bilbro will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin at 3:00 p.m.
