At the age of 65, Becky Short peacefully passed away at her residence in Warner Robins on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
Becky was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Brookshire. She was born on April 26, 1958, in Chinon, France. As an Army dependent, Becky spent most of her childhood in Germany, Alaska, and South Carolina. Becky became an Air Force wife in 1981. She was a dedicated supporter of Scott’s (Joe’s) Air Force career and started her nursing career in RAF Lakenheath England. Becky graduated in Macon, GA from nursing school and over a span of 30 years of nursing, she worked for many doctors and nursing homes in the area. Becky even worked as a charge nurse at Macon State Prison. As a caring nurse, Becky retired from Houston Medical Center as a Quality Resource Abstractor. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to church, traveling, and visiting wineries. She loved comedies, dancing, plays, cats, flamingos, wine, and Star Trek.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 42 years, Joseph (Joe) Scott Short; children, Rachel Short, Jessica Sears (Timothy), and Joey Short; grandchildren, Christian Sears, William A. Cooper III, Gavin Yon, Kaitlynn Yon, and Peyton Cooper; as well as great-grandchild, Ian Sears; brother. Charles (Chuck) Brookshire (Debra); sisters, Martha Evatt, Joani McCraw (Bill).
The first memorial gathering will be Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Anglican Cathedral Church of the Epiphany. The church is located at 2512 North Beltline Blvd, Columbia, SC 29204. A second memorial gathering with family and friends will take place on Friday June 23, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Christ The Redeemer Anglican Church at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 2815 US Hwy 41, Fort Valley, GA 31030. During the service, Becky will be inurned at Christ The Redeemer Anglican Church Columbarium.
