– Bert E. Bowen, 58, passed away on January 25, 2005 at his home in Lake Wildwood, Macon. Services will be held at 2:00 on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Evergreen Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
Mr. Bowen was born in West Palm Beach, Fl. in 1946; he would have been 59 years old in March. He came to Warner Robins in 1950 and lived in this area all of his life. He was part of the first graduating class from Northside High School. He retired as a Georgia State Correction Officer. Bert was in the National Guard and a certified fire fighter of the Crooked Creek Fire Department of Eatonton, Ga. He had many hobbies such as hunting, horses, guns and fishing; somehow he always knew just how to fix everyone’s fishing pole to be able to catch the biggest fish. Bert was always proud to be named after his father’s pilot and co-pilot from World War II. He was of Baptist faith and a former member of Second Baptist Church. His brother, Vernon C. Bowen, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, Okey and Christine Bowen, Eatonton, GA; sister, Wanda Purvis (Hughey) Milledgeville, GA; brother, Ralph Bowen (Barbara) Warner Robins, GA; special friend, Debbie Lake, Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Chris Georgatos, Drew Purvis, John Richard Feathers, Scott Bowen, Jackie Bowen, Sheryl Bowen, Mark (Carla) Bowen, Chad (Jill) Bowen, Aaron Bowen, and Jason (Brandi) Bowen.
