Frances Lyles, 92, joined her beloved husband, William D. Lyles, in heaven on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 15, 2017.
Frances was born in Opelika, Alabama on July 30, 1925 to the late James W. and Willie Brantley Sapp. She grew up in Douglas, Georgia where she met and married, William Lyles, he was 16 years old and she was 14 years old. They moved to Warner Robins where they raised their family and both worked at Robins Air Force Base. With William’s job, they were able to travel to many places and she developed a love for traveling. Once she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of traveling to Israel. After retirement, they moved to Lake Sinclair where they lived until William passed away, Frances then moved back to Warner Robins. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was a greeter, a member of Joy Sunday School Class, and enjoyed preparing meals for other church members. Frances was a self-taught artist and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by her son, William B. Lyles; granddaughter, Robin Winchester; and sister, Helen Stevens.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughter, Pat Winchester (Tommy) of Perry; grandchildren, Tracy Pickering, Greg Winchester, Brian Lyles, and Celeste Coyle; ten great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; sisters, Rachel Royal of Savannah, Alice Watts of Florida, Yvonne Anderson of Douglas, and Mae McDaniel of Centerville; daughter-in-law, Kathi Lyles, and a number of adoring nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. After the service, Frances will be laid to rest next to Mr. Lyles in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
