Betty Ann Evans

Byron

Betty Ann Evans, born on November 4, 1939, in Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Herman and Edna Woods and grew up in Macon, where she attended A.L. Miller High School.

At the age of 14, Betty started her first job at the soda counter of Young Drug Company, located at the corner of Mulberry Street and Second Street in Downtown Macon, a site that is now home to the popular local florist, Lawrence Mayer. She later built a successful career as an administrative assistant for Freudenberg, from which she retired.

A passionate bowler, Betty found joy and camaraderie at the bowling alley, where she met her husband, Randy. Her love for the sport led her to become a proud member of the Warner Robins Bowling Hall of Fame.

Betty was deeply devoted to her church, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Macon, where she dedicated her time and talents to serving in various ministries, including Vacation Bible School, the Children’s Ministry, and the senior group. Her faith and commitment to helping others were hallmarks of her character.

In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed shopping with family and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. However, above all, she cherished her family, creating lasting memories and nurturing the bonds that brought them together.

Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and the community she touched throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Griffith; and brothers, Bennie Wood, Bobby Wood and Charles Wood.

She is survived by her loving husband, Randy; children, Michael West, of Macon, Tony West of Roberta, Dodd Evans of Rutledge, and Tania McCall (Roland) of Lizella; grandchildren, Morgan Locklar (Blake), Jenna Evans, Blake Evans, Carla Chapman (Dwayne), Jonathan Hooks, Michael Easton, Christie Vandiver, Christie Doehring, Shane Harmon (Mazie), Christine Johnson (Jeffrey) Amanda Mitchell (Dillon), and Rachel Russ (Jason); and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends during a visitation on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at McCullough Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Afterwards, Betty will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
