Betty Jean Cross

January 5, 1939 — September 3, 2022

Betty Jean Cross, 83, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Mrs. Cross was born on January 5, 1939 in Toombs County, Georgia to the late Onie and LuVert Mosley. A devoted wife, mother, and Nana, she loved her life, she loved her family, and she loved her Lord. A faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church, she enjoyed helping with church dinners, baptisms, and being one of the “cookie and Kool-Aid” ladies for Vacation Bible School. She retired from the Houston County Board of Education where she worked in the cafeteria at what was then known as Warner Robins Junior High School. Her radio was always tuned to her favorite southern Gospel music, and the mountains was her favorite travel destination. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Frank Cross; and her siblings, Edna Morrell, Earleen Anderson, Clint Mosley, Elza Mosley, Dewitt Mosley, Edith Davis, Lamar Mosely, Talmadge Mosley, and Grady Mosley.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Jeanne McLarty (Terry) of Loganville, Georgia and Douglas Frank Cross (Julie) of Warner Robins; her grandchildren, Lori Smith (Anthony) and Joshua McLarty (Amy) both of Covington, Georgia, Kaelie Fetters (Joshua) of Fort Valley, Georgia, and Carrie Cross of Warner Robins; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Emeline McLarty, Odette McLarty, Lane Fetters, Annie Smith, Grayson Fetters, Bryson Smith, and Walker Fetters; brother, Ben Carlos Mosley (Ida) of Urbana, Illinois; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Visitation with Mrs. Cross’ family will be Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Bennett and Mr. Pete Soots officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Cross will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
