Betty Laura Watson Self, 77, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 20, 2009.
Mrs. Self was born in Warner Robins on May 28, 1931. A resident of Byron for the past forty years, she was a member of Byron Baptist Church and the Murdock Sunday School. She was a devoted mother and homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends. Her other favorite pastime was gardening and she was active with the Byron Garden Club.
Her husband, Charles E. Self, Sr., parents, Charlie Melvin Watson and Sallie Mae Jackson Watson, all preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Betty Jean Clark (Ken), Byron; sons, Dennis Self (Nancy), Fort Valley, Charles E. Self, Jr., Byron and Danny Self (Karen), Byron; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Watson, Cochran; sisters, Darlene Ward, DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Sue Ivester, Warner Robins; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009, in Byron Baptist Church, the Reverend Jesse Fortson officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Byron Baptist Church, 100 White Road, Byron GA 31008 or to Hospice of Central Georgia, P. O. Box 6533, Macon GA 31208.
