Betty M. Glenn

June 15, 1931 — April 10, 2021

On the morning of Saturday, April 10, 2021, our sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 89 years old.

Betty was born on June 15, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Jim and Eva Means Tuck. Raised in East Lake in Decatur, Georgia, she enjoyed working at Rich’s in downtown Atlanta while attending high school. Betty continued working there until marrying the late Roy Milton Glenn from Oglethorpe County. They lived in Atlanta for a few years before moving to Forest Park, Georgia. In 1978, they moved to Sandy Cross, Georgia where she lived until 2012. Sadly, Milton passed away in 1987.

A full-time mom and homemaker, Betty was known for putting everyone’s needs before her own. She was a longtime member of Glade Baptist Church in Carlton, Georgia and was baptized at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Atlanta. She delighted in serving as a mentor at the local elementary school and also found joy in serving as a member of her D-Group, “FROG,” at Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins, WMU, visiting shut-ins, and teaching at Vacation Bible School. She was simply a servant wherever she was needed.

Family was her hobby, although she did enjoy her plants and cooking – she made the best sweet tea! Betty also loved her dog, Champ, as he was her most loyal companion.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Alverta Wright; and her brother, Kenneth Sedgewick.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Bobby Glenn (Jeanette) of Macon, Terry L. Glenn (Vicki) of McDonough, Bonnie England (George) of Hampton, Georgia, Mark S. Glenn (Melissa Alewine) of Hull, Georgia and Jeff Glenn (Malea) of Kathleen; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Serenity Hospice and to Betty’s caregivers, Virginia Mullally, M.J. Spano, Carole Carson, for their never-ending care and support through these last days. We will be forever grateful to all of you.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Jacob Green and Betty’s son, Rev. Jeff Glenn officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery in Carlton, Georgia at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon, with Rev. Derek Paul officiating.

Memorial donations can be given in memory of Betty to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Ste. A., Macon, GA 31201, or to Shirley Hills Baptist Church Student Scholarship Fund, 615 Corder Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
