On the afternoon of Friday, November 15, 2024, Betty Anderson Saxon, 88, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven.
Betty was born on April 10, 1936, in Cedartown, Georgia to the late Gordon Anderson and Marie Jordan. During high school, Betty was known for her athleticism. She was a standout softball pitcher and earned a spot as a first-string varsity player, as an 8th grader, and she also coached in exhibition basketball. After high school, Betty moved to Salina, Kansas where she embraced the role of proud military wife. Her dedication to the military community was evident in her active service as an officer of the NCO Wives Club. While in Kansas, she took on her most beloved role - mother. As the children were growing up, she supported them as a Cub Scout Den mother and a Girl Scout leader. Betty loved music and instilled a deep appreciation and love for music in her children and all her grandchildren. Her husband and family were always her top priority, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Betty’s legacy of love, service, and devotion to her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, James Warren Saxon and brother, Gene Anderson.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved children Ginny Newberry (Dale) and James W. Saxon, Jr. (JoAnn); grandchildren, Denny Newberry (Kelley), John David Smith, Jr. (Sonya), James Newberry (Mia), Sarah Marie Rentz (James), Katie Elizabeth Alexander (Michael) and James Warren Saxon, III (Jamie); along with 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Carolyn Dugger (David), sister-in-law, Lyvonne Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
