Billie Welsh, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017. She was born on April 17, 1932 in Waterloo, Georgia to the late Wiley J. and Omeda Busbin. Billie grew up in Chula where she attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College. While in college, she played center for the basketball team and earned her degree in Home Economics. Billie worked at Tifton Hospital as a nurse for a short period before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Aaron Welsh. For the first few years of their marriage, they moved around with Aaron's job; during this time, Billie was a loving and devoted homemaker. Later they settled down in Warner Robins and she began her career at Lindsey Elementary where she worked for 20 years in the school cafeteria. Billie enjoyed working with her hands whether she was cooking, gardening or working in her yard, she was always at peace. She had a distinct zest for life and expressed her joy through music, singing and dancing. However, her greatest joy was found in her unwavering love for God, her family, and animals. Billie will be truly missed by everyone who was blessed to know her and to have had her share a part in their lives.
Her husband, Aaron Luther Welsh; and siblings, Barbara Phelps, Virginia Busbin and Dorothy Busbin, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Tom Welsh (Karen) of Perry; Doug Welsh (Janice) of Gautier, Mississippi; Aronna Welsh of Adel; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Amanda, Corey, Erin; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wiley, Charles, and Arthur Busbin and June Summer; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, March 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton, Georgia where Billie will be laid to rest.
