Rev. Billie Ruth Russell departed this life to live eternally with her Lord on June 3, 2024.
Billie Ruth was born in Bath, S.C. on December 26, 1936, having lived most of her life in Warner Robins. She attained her High School Diploma from the State of Georgia Dept of Education, was a 1971 graduate of Macon Vocational Tech School of Practical Nursing, Licensed and registered with the State of GA, having nursed at Houston County Medical Center and Coliseum Medical Center, Macon. She served as Corp Secretary and in Advertisement & Sales 9 years with Russell Homes, Inc. before retiring in 1997. She was an active member of the G.R.E.A. and H.C.R.E.A.
In obedience to her divine call, she completed the prescribed Academic Studies from Berean School of the Bible, graduating from Level 1, [Bible ffbeology] 2007 Springfield, MO becoming part of a select group of people known as Global University alumni. She completed Levels 2 and 3 at GSOM, [Georgia School of Ministry], Macon, GA receiving Credentials and Certificates of Ministry as a Certified, Licensed, and Ordained Minister through the Georgia District Assemblies of God, and The General Council of the Assemblies of God, Springfield, Mo. She was Ordained in May 2010. She was affiliated with the Georgia District Assemblies of God Fellowship, Macon Section.
A Golden Poet, she received certificate awards and trophy, with some of her poetry having been published with the National Library of Poetry and World of Poetry.
She was a member of Christ Chapel (formerly Faith Assembly of God), and bad served as Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, and Deaconess on the Official Church Board at Faith. She loved preaching and singing the Gospel of Christ and ministering at "Bread From Heaven " 'Outreach ' Program. Other ministries extended to Southern Heritage Personal Care Home and Warner Robins Women's Aglow. She enjoyed participating in the Assemblies of God MAPS Mission Program with her husband to 3rd World countries.
Her husband of 38 years, Odus Sanford (Mack) Russell, Jr, brother Julian Tompkins, father, Ira J. Tompkins, mother, Ruby Godbee Tompkins, son, Mark Anthony Watson, brother, Leon Tompkins, sisters-in-law, Jean Russell, and Nettie Foster preceded her in death.
She loved her family. She will dearly be missed by her children, Ruth Lanae (Boyd) Collier, Canton, GA, Gary Lee Watson, Bonaire, David Randall Watson, Bonaire, Bonnie (Gary) Christian, Terry (Sherry) Russell, Sherry Jane Shaw, of Calif., sister-in-law, Emily Tompkins, brother-in-law Richard Russell, W.R., 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 god-granddaughter, Ashlyn Sarah Benjamin and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Thomas, Jr. officiating with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery Veteran's Plaza Mausoleum.
