Billy Wayne Stewart

Billy Wayne Stewart, born on November 10, 1937, in Cordele, Georgia, to the late Preston and Ila Mae Stewart, passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Billy was 83 years old and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired as a certified life underwriter from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and spent many enjoyable hours in his woodworking shop. Billy was a faithful and longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, where he served in various capacities, such as a youth worker, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, bus driver, Deacon and many other ministries. He loved to serve the Lord by serving others.

Billy was preceded in death by his first wife of 26 years, Betty Ann Durham Stewart; his son, Richard Wayne Stewart; his stepdaughter, Laura Roberts; and two sisters, Martha Johnson and Pat Stewart.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Coppage Stewart; children, Terri Ann Davis (Britt) and William Russell “Rusty” Stewart (Denise); stepson, David Webb; grandchildren, Matt Stewart (Whitney), Dusty Stewart (Paige), Jake Stewart, Lacey Richards (Thomas), Justin Stewart (Ashley), Ashley Lambert (Hayden), Brittoni Garner (Bailey), Cale Davis (Alexa), Jennifer Roberts (Nirmit) and Tyler Roberts; great-grandchildren, Andi Lynn, Liddy, Blake, Donna, John Austin, Stella, Kate, Ellie, Sadie, Rhett, Grant, Barrett and Adelyn; and his beloved dog, Charlie.

Billy’s funeral service will take place at Second Baptist Church on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery following the service. Billy was so proud of his grandsons, and would have been honored to know that Matt, Dusty, Jake, Justin, Cale and Tyler served as pallbearers at his service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Billy to Shamgar Ministries, Inc., 215 Oak Rd., Arabi, GA 31712.
