Blanche Walden Thompson

Blanche Thompson, 93, died Saturday, January 13, 2007.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Dahlonega, Georgia on May 8, 1913 to the late Columbus Goodman Walden and Carolyn Satterfield Walden. She was a resident of Warner Robins since 1942, moving here from Telfair County where her husband had farmed. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins and a charter member of Central Baptist Church; she worked with the Women’s Missionary Union, taught the Sunshine Sunday School class for thirty years, and was involved in many projects and activities. After 28 years in civil service, she retired from Robins Air Force Base where she worked in material control. In addition, she volunteered at Houston Medical Center as a pink lady. Amongst all of her accomplishments, she was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Thompson, and her parents, Columbus Goodman Walden and Carolyn Satterfield Walden.

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Ann Thomas, Snow Camp, NC, and Norma Grace Watson, Centerville; sisters, Lynelle Thompson, Lumber City; Ruth Laws, Brunswick; seven grandchildren: Ricky Watson, Byron; Rusty Watson, Warner Robins; Katherine Baggarly, Perry; Steven L. Thomas, Greenville, SC; Jim Thomas, Eden, NC; Dennis Thomas, Whitsett, NC; and Greg Thomas, Graham, NC; ten great grandchildren and two sister in laws, Johniece Thompson and Wynez Thompson, both of Warner Robins.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
