Bobbie Jack Harris

October 27, 1936 — October 28, 2012

Bobbie Jack Harris, 76, entered into rest on Sunday, October 28, 2012, having lived a full and exciting life. He suffered with Alzheimer's for the last several years.

Mr. Harris was born on October 27, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bobbie graduated from high school, but began working at the age of thirteen. He married his high school sweetheart, Othella Mae Cantrell in 1955. At that time he worked as a specialized small engine mechanic in the San Joaquin Valley before moving to Los Angeles to become a salesman and later Vice-President of McCulloch Chainsaw distribution franchise. In addition to his full time work, he ran a successful carpet cleaning business "Harris Moonlighting". After retiring from McCulloch in 1977, he pursued his life's dream of running a farm and small engine machine shop in Prague, Oklahoma. Then in 1982, he went to work for Tinker Air Force Base. In 1989, he and Othella took a ten year assignment to Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa as a Pneudraulics Technician . Bobbie retired from his civil service job after eighteen years of service. Mr. Harris was a devout Christian and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A Third Degree Mason, he enjoyed serving others. He served as an Elder and High Priest in the church, and as a Stake and Ward Missionary, Bishopric Member and first Branch President of the Seminole Branch in Oklahoma. Bobbie raised his family, through his example, to believe in Christ and adhere to His teachings. He, his wife and their children were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on December 19, 1964. He later served as a Temple worker in the Los Angeles and Atlanta Temples. Bobbie has always been proud of his children and their accomplishments; he considered them his prize possession and crowning achievement. His parents, George Herschel and Opal Laverne Miller Harris; sister, Carolyn Laverne Harris Vogel; brother-in-law, Brian Vogel; brother George Curtis Harris; parents-in-law, Mike Olen and Nellie Mae Davenport Cantrell, all preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Othella Mae Harris; sons Paul R. Harris (Sherri), Mike O. C. Harris (Sherri); daughter, Nora Sue Harris Atchley; brothers, Meckie Harris (Lucie), Kenneth Harris (Debbie), Benjahman Harris (Janet); eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
