Bobby Lee Gordy

Bobby Lee Gordy, 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 17, 2005 at Houston Medical Center. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Centerville with interment following in Centerville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 18, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at McCullough Funeral Home. The Reverends Sydney Odom and Mobley Cross will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Centerville Building Fund, 108 Church Street, Centerville, Georgia 31028, American Heart Association, 3312 Northside Drive Suite 140A, Macon, Georgia 31210, or American Cancer Society, Central Georgia Dist Bibb Unit Macon, Georgia 31208.

Mr. Gordy was born in Louisville, Georgia to the late Wallace and Bobbie Munns Gordy. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Centerville and the late Sam Morgan’s Men’s Sunday School Class. He served as a deacon and a Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Gordy presently served as a Centerville Poll Manager, Houston County Equalization Board Member, and Centerville Senior Citizens Club member. He was a former board member of the Houston County Library, a Little League baseball and football coach for Centerville Recreation Department, and a City Councilman. Mr. Gordy was the owner of Gordy Tax Service and was a veteran of the 48th Infantry National Guard. His brother, Henry Billy Gordy, and his sister, Brenda Gordy Dye, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Runelle Gordy, Centerville; son, Jon Gordy (Trina), Centerville; daughter, Wanda (Gordy) Clark (Robert), Centerville; grandchildren, Dexter Gordy; Mallory Gordy, Laurel Clark; Amy Clark, all of Centerville; sisters, Sarah Bowles (Bud), Louisville; Linda Godowns (Billy), Louisville; sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Gordy, Centerville; brother-in-law, Melvin Dye, Centerville.
