Bobby Joseph Thompson

 Bobby Joseph Thompson passed away January 16, 2025, at 81years old. Bobby was born March 12, 1943, in Cordele, Georgia, to A.J. and Mary (Teagle) Thompson. After graduating from Crisp County High School, Cordele, Georgia in 1961, Bobby would marry the love of his life, Patricia Harris on January 25, 1964. From this union they would have one daughter Michelle. 

 In 1966, Bobby joined the U.S. Air Force and become a jet engine mechanic, with his specialty being the maintenance of the F-101 Voodoo Fighter Jet.

 After the military, the family would relocate “back home” to Cordele, later moving to Warner Robins, where Bobby began driving an 18-wheeler. He drove for Georgia Highway Express / Transus and Averitt Express, totaling over 41 years. In 2021, the couple relocated to Loomis, Nebraska, to be closer to family.

 Bobby loved woodworking, driving his ‘55 Chevy, watching NASCAR, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

 Bobby is survived by his wife, Patricia Thompson; daughter, Michelle (Mike) Szekely, all of Loomis, Nebraska; grandchildren, Brian (Jackie) Szekely of Carson City, Nevada; Heather (Dylan Lower) Szekely of Henry, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren: Oliver Lower, and Vera Szekely; sister-in-law, Wynelle Thompson and her family of Kenesaw, Georgia; and brother-in-law, James (Joyce) Morgan and their family, Warner Robins, Georgia; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service for Bobby Thompson will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Szekely officiating. An entombment will be held at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

 Memorials in Bobby’s honor are suggested to the family for future designation.
