Major Brian Ralph Getzin, USAF (Ret.), age 78, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 2, 2024. A dedicated officer, beloved teacher and cherished member of the community, Major Getzin lived a life marked by service, resilience, and passion.
Brian was born on January 5, 1946, to the late Ralph Getzin and Jeanette Evernden Franz in Buffalo, New York.
With a 23-year career in the United States Air Force, Brian embodied honor and commitment, earning respect from his colleagues and those he led. Following his military service, he continued to inspire young minds by teaching math for thirteen years at Middle Georgia College.
Outside of his professional life, Brian was a person of many interests and talents. He was an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds with friends and family. Brian enjoyed reading and appreciated the quiet satisfaction of a good book. He also found joy in music and sang in the church choir for many years.
Brian’s memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Nancy Getzin; children, Jennifer Dorosch (Brian), Ann Mish and Amy Hoffman (Vincent); siblings, Paul Getzin (Lynn), Gail McKay (David) and Carol Weber; seven grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation with Brian’s family will be Monday, November 11, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with the memorial service celebrating his life following in the chapel.
