Bruno Lewallen, 80, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005 at Serenity Gate. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Houston County 103 Westridge Drive Warner Robins, Ga. 31088.
Bruno was born July 19, 1924 in Glenmary, Tennessee. He was the son of Ollie Bell Parker Lewallen and Cicero Grandville Lewallen. Bruno lost his mother at an early age. At the age 9 growing up in Verdune, Tennessee his closest friend was Herbert Kidd. With the help of a family friend Bill Pennycuff , Bruno accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and professed this to anyone he knew and met. In the year 1941 at the age of 15 he changed his age and enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He also served in World War II. He served Honor and Valor in Central Europe, Northern France, Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, and Ardennes Rhineland. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, and the Bronze Star. The war was put behind him and he returned to Oneida, Tennessee. Bruno had nothing in Onedia to keep him there so he enlisted in the United States Navy and soon married Arrie Herndon they were married for 53 years whom preceded him in death. Bruno became a police officer, a Mason, and deputy sheriff. His first duty was to God, family, then his country and friends. He will be missed by all whom he knew and touched in his journey through life. Bruno loved and cherished every moment he had with his family and we will miss him until we meet again.
Survivors include his children, Vonda Sharp; Denise Revell; Susan Nye; and Gilda Grizzaffi; brothers, David Lewallen; Andy Lewallen; Charles Lewallen; sisters, Violace Choate; Brenda Stanley; Fanny Terry; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
