Calvin Simpson, Jr., 55, entered into rest on Thursday, July 14, 2011.
Mr. Simpson was born on July 26, 1955 in Bessemer, Alabama, and was a retired Item Manager in civil service from Robins Air Force Base. With great pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Harley Owners Group. Calvin loved his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and the friends he made riding it. He was a generous and compassionate man who never met a stranger. A devout family man, he would sacrifice anything for his family. He loved his mother and always sought to please and protect her. Calvin lived life to the fullest and never took himself too seriously. His church home was First Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama. His father, Calvin Simpson, Sr., preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Ida M. Jones Simpson; mother, Maraline Simpson, New York, New York; daughters, Stephanie Celeste Simpson and Destiny Brianna Simpson, Kathleen; brother, Michael Simpson, Denver, Colorado; and a host of extended family members.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Bishop Jeff Poole officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
