Candice Nicole Lewis, 39, entered into rest at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Candice was born on April 27, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia. As a loving mother and devoted wife, she was the foundation of her family, providing unwavering support and love. Her faith, spirituality, and compassion were evident in every aspect of her life. A highly educated woman, Candice earned a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and an Education Specialist’s degree, which she utilized to inspire and educate young minds as a teacher in Valdosta City School District, Bibb County School District, and Monroe County School District. Teaching was her lifelong passion, a dream she had nurtured since the third grade. Her dedication to her students and her profession was recognized through the prestigious Teacher of the Year awards at both Brookdale Elementary School and K.B. Sutton Elementary School. She also earned the honor of being named the Monroe County School District’s Teacher of the Year.
Beyond her professional achievements, Candice had a rich and fulfilling personal life. She was known for her incredible cooking skills, and had a flair for decorating, bringing warmth and beauty to her surroundings. In her leisure time, she enjoyed working out at the gym and indulging in her love for shopping. Candice’s vibrant personality and caring nature touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, education, and devotion will forever be cherished.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Phillip Lewis, and uncle, Michael Smith.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Michael Bernard Lewis; children, Landen Lewis and Logan Lewis; parents, Pierre and Lisa Grimes; step-father, Anthony Nealy; siblings, Kourtney Nealy and Crystan Nealy; grandparents, Bernadine James, Betty Smith, and John Smith (Loraine); aunts, Shanna Smith, Ayana Smith, and Nicole James Martin; uncles, Andre Grimes and Gary Grimes; nephews, Xavier Montford, Branden Montford, and Jace Jackson; mother-in-law, Barbara Lewis, and sister-in-law, Stacey Montford (Michael) along with many cousins, loving family members and friends.
The family will greet friends during a visitation on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 3:00, in the chapel at McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Candice will be laid to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens, with a repast to follow at the Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home.
