Carl Clarence Coxsey, Jr.

July 16, 1942 — August 23, 2010

Carl Clarence Coxsey, Jr., 68, died Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Medical Center in Macon.

Carl was born July 16, 1942, in San Diego, California, son of the late Carl C. Coxsey, Sr., and Mary Juanita Zellner Coxsey. He grew up in Pine Bluff and Conway, Arkansas as well as Huntsville, Alabama. On August 26, 1962, in Levy, Arkansas, Carl was united in marriage to Patricia Lynn Blythe, and to this loving union two daughters were born. Carl retired in 2005 from civil service at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama, and a loyal fan of Tide football. Carl also enjoyed golfing, traveling and the study of history. However, his greatest joy was time spent with his family and especially the time he had with his five grandchildren. He loved life and led it to the fullest. Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshallville, Georgia.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Patricia Blythe Coxsey; daughters, Kellie Blythe Cox (Matt), Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Christy Jo Bush (Andy), Newnan, Georgia; grandchildren, Taylor, Cameron, and Jackson Cox, Blythe and Charley Bush; sister, Jan Coxsey Beason, Huntsville, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Jim Blythe, Rialto, California, and Randy Blythe, Centerville, Missouri; and nieces Mary Kathrine Lew and LuAnn Zant; as well as many loving relatives and friends. Carl will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 28, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Dr. T. Charles Carter officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Baptist Church Marshallville, 307 East Main Street, Marshallville GA 31057.
